The representativeness and reliability of measurements made by stations located on a roof are questionable, the measurement environment is far from optimal and from the official WMO recommendations. A roof is not a representative surface of the place. During the day, there is a risk of reflection of solar radiation towards the shelter and therefore a risk of increased heating of the shelter and the temperature sensor. This is all the more true if the roof is white and sloping. At night, this can also affect the reliability of minimum temperatures due to the thermal inertia of the building materials.
